DEPOSIT // Hold Lightly: A Winter Retreat
Embrace a softer start to the new year with this relaxing and inspiring weekend retreat led by Sarah Hyde and guest teacher Jaz Rambeau. This is our 5th annual Hold Lightly weekend, and we have come to treasure this opportunity to start the new year in mindful, uplifting community.
Throughout all of nature, winter is a time for resting, recharging and dreaming. Let go of the rigidity of new year’s resolutions and lean into a more easeful start to the year that feels more attuned to nature. Over the course of the weekend, explore what you’re wishing for in 2027 and beyond, what you can let go of, and how to move towards what’s next in a softer, more nourishing way. Supported by gentle yoga and meditation practices, astrology, and creative workshops, we’ll learn to hold lightly to our intentions and dreams as we begin the new year.
Nestled in a secluded and magical setting, you’ll eat and rest in cozy lodgings, stroll across the marsh to the beautiful yoga studio with its magnificent vaulted ceiling, and get to know like-minded individuals. This retreat has been the basis of many new friendships, and we love seeing folks form connections and return to the retreat year after year.
Our sessions will be bookended with delicious, nourishing, home-cooked meals and free time to relax and unwind. This is a weekend to treat yourself.

LODGING OPTIONS:
The Aldermarsh Retreat Center features an array of lodging options. We reserve the Apartment for staff housing, but offer twin beds and a limited number of queen and double beds in shared rooms in the Main House and Studio. All the bedrooms are cozy and comfortable - and that includes the twin beds, we promise!
There are two off-grid cabins, Spirit House and Owl House, located just a short walk from the yoga studio and its bathroom and shower facilities, as well as to the Main House where meals will be served. These cabins are a good option for guests seeking a bit more privacy or single occupancy, and who don’t mind slightly rustic accommodations.
Housing will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.
Note for commuters: you’ll lodge separately, but join the group for meals.
GETTING THERE:
The Aldermarsh Retreat Center is just a short drive from the Whidbey Island ferry terminal north of Seattle. We cannot guarantee transportation to the island, though we are happy to connect you with other guests who may have space for a passenger.
If you are taking the ferry without a car, pickups can be arranged for you at the ferry terminal - just let us know. Pickups are available between 2:00 and 4:00pm on Friday. Usually, on Sunday when we depart, it’s easy to grab a ride with someone back to the ferry. If for some reason we are unable to pick you up from the ferry, you can plan on/arrange for Uber or taxi service.
